PERSONAL--(pronounced Wall--uh-tich) Born 1/17/78 in Portland, OR...son of Mark Waletich and Candy Foster...his father is a farmer and a former OSU football player (1966-70)...he is in the College of Liberal Arts and he is a political science major...he has two brothers, Cory, 19; and Kyle, 14; and an older sister, Kari, 32...three former prep teammates are playing college football, Tyler McClaughry at OSU; Tom Matijacic, Portland State; and Greg Lum, Boise State...his top athletic thrill as a prep athlete was beating Lakeridge in a game that knocked them out of the state playoffs...selected OSU because, “of the coaching staff and the university.”
OSU--(2000-Senior)--Casey enters his senior year at Oregon State still looking for his first opportunity to earn playing time...he opened spring drills as the No. 3 weak linebacker and he remained in that spot when spring drills concluded...he will still face an uphill battle for playing time in 2000...he posted weightlifting bests of 360 pounds in the back squat, 260 in the bench press and 253 in the power clean.
OSU--(1999-Junior)--With Dennis Erickson taking over as head coach, Casey asked to move to linebacker...he reported for spring drills listed as the No. 4 weak linebacker...Casey did not improve his standing on the depth chart during spring drills and will have to have an impressive fall camp in order to get on the field in 1999 as a linebacker, although he could see action on special teams...in the weight room, Casey has personal bests of 297 in the hang clean, 310 in the bench press, 400 in the back squat and 255 in the incline...his vertical jump best is 32.00 inches and he tested for only 8.41 percent body fat.
(1998-Sophomore)--Casey was put on scholarship following the 1997 season and opened spring drills listed as the No. 4 tight end...then Coach Mike Riley planned to use Casey and Pete Campbell in the role of an H-Back, which is a player kind of in between a tight end and wide receiver, a player who must block and still be a pass receiver...Casey did not get any action as a sophomore.
(1997--Redshirt Freshman)--Casey joined the OSU football program for the start of fall camp as a walk-on running back and receiver...he spent the 1997 season as a redshirt tight end.
PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY--(1996)--Casey signed a letter of intent to play football at Portland State in 1996 as a wide receiver...redshirted in 1996 at PSU and following his freshman year, Casey transferred to OSU.
LAKE OSWEGO HIGH SCHOOL--(1993-95)--Casey had a brilliant career at Lake Oswego High School...earned three letters and was a three-year starter for Coach Steve Coury, a former OSU All-American wide receiver...played running back and defensive back...earned three letters in track as a sprinter and earned two letters as a center on the basketball team...offensively, Casey rushed for 2,735 yards and had 483 yards receiving and scored 36 touchdowns...had 1,300 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns as a junior and 1,235 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns as a senior...on defense, he had 98 tackles, and 6 interceptions as a senior, plus he returned 2 interceptions for touchdowns...as a junior on defense, Casey had 83 tackles and 4 interceptions...earned many honors in football...he was a first-team all-league (Three Rivers) selection as a junior and senior...was a third-team all-state (Oregonian) selection as a running back as a senior...was a Blue Chip Magazine honorable mention West Region pick as a senior...was a USA Today honorable mention All-American selection as a senior and was an honorable mention Northwest Nuggets selection by The Tacoma News Tribune...was recruited by Boise State, Montana, Oregon, Washington State, Idaho and Oregon State...was team captain in football and basketball his senior year...following his senior year, he was selected to play in the North-South Shrine All-Star game, July, 1996...caught 3 passes for 93 yards for the North squad.
