PERSONAL--Born 1/21/79 in Omaha, Nebraska...son of Eric and Jodi Mobley...his father is a police officer and his mother is a bank CEO...has an older sister, Tanisha, 26; and a younger brother, Justin, 20...he is in the College of Health & Human Performance and his major is pre-health care administration...entered OSU with a 3.0 GPA out of Antelope Valley High School...he is among students listed in Who's Who of Scholastic America among high school students...was a scholar athlete at Antelope Valley...enjoys playing baseball and listening to music...his favorite athlete is Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys...his biggest athletic thrill to date has been hitting back-to-back home runs in one game...selected OSU because, "I want to help lead a new beginning."
OSU—(2001—Senior)—Eric enters his senior year having played in 28 games…he is a veteran who can play both safety positions and is a stalwart on special teams…he completed spring drills as the No. 2 free safety…he has been a solid backup player for the Beavers…in the winter program, Eric posted weightlifting bests of 320 in the bench press, 275.6 in the power clean and 465 in the squat.
OSU--(2000-Junior)--Eric has earned two letters for OSU and has played in 17 games in two years for OSU, all on offense...with Patrick McCall becoming eligible this year to play tailback, Eric and the Beaver coaching staff decided a move to defense might give Eric more opportunity for playing time, plus he could provide some depth to the secondary...Eric reported to spring drills as a defensive back and he completed spring drills as the No. 3 free safety...Eric had a very good spring and proved he is capable of playing and helping the Beavers on the defensive side of the ball, plus he will continue to be a solid contributor on special teams...he had an interception in scrimmage No. 3...in winter conditioning, Eric posted some very good numbers...he had best of 455 in the back squat, 310 in the bench press and 264 in the power clean.
OSU--(1999-Sophomore)--Eric got his first chance to perform as a tailback when spring drills opened...also was able to play once again without wearing a brace...continued to improve throughout spring drills...in the three scrimmages, Eric carried the ball 7 times for 20 yards at Roseburg (4/17)...carried the ball 9 times for 35 yards at Prothro Field (4/24) scrimmage...in the final Spring game at Hillsboro (5/1), carried the ball 10 times for 46 yards and scored a touchdown on a 4-yard run for the winning White team...he will report to fall camp listed as the No. 2 tailback behind Ken Simonton...in the weight room, Eric posted personal bests of 250 pounds in the hang clean, 340 in the bench press, 450 in the back squat and 300 in the incline...his best vertical jump at OSU has been 28.50 inches and he tested for only 6.04 percent body fat.
(1998-Redshirt Freshman)--After extensive rehab, Eric was able to participate in spring drills, but he was not allowed to participate in full contact drills...he was able to show some ability in the non-contact drills and display good running instincts and the ability to catch the football...Eric got a clean bill of health to play when fall camp opened, but he still had to wear a knee brace which limited his mobility...Eric earned a letter in 1998 by playing in six games, all on special teams...played in six of the last seven games...did not play in the first four games, nor the Arizona 10/9 contest...did not participate on offense.
(1997-Freshman)--Eric came to OSU with an injured right knee that was hurt in a summer prep all-star game and the knee required surgery...he had reconstructive surgery to his right knee on August 22 and he spent the entire season in rehab as he redshirted.
ANTELOPE VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL, Lancaster, CA (1996)--He played football his senior year for the Antelope Valley High School Antelopes in Lancaster, CA...played for Coach Brent Newcomb...was selected second-team All-Pac-10 Region by the winter issue of SuperPrep Magazine...runs 4.50 in 40 and has a 42 inch vertical leap...played football as a sophomore and junior at Antelope Valley Christian High School where he earned first-team All-CIF honors both years and was named the offensive Player of the Year his sophomore season...selected first-team All-Valley Press as a sophomore and junior...Eric had a severe ankle sprain and was hurt for much of the 1996 season and played in only four games...has the tools to play either TB or DB...despite playing in only four games as a senior, Eric still managed to gain 413 yards on 69 carries (6.0 average) and score 7 TDs...caught 4 passes for 56 yards (14.0 average) and score 1 TD...as a sophomore and junior, Eric played for Antelope Valley Christian High School and was terrific with 2,210 yards rushing in 11 games...averaged 12.7 yards per carry and scored 29 touchdowns...caught 2 passes for 31 yards and 2 TDs...as a junior in 13 games he rushed for 2,096 yards (14.27 average) and scored 42 touchdowns...caught 5 passes for 183 yards (36.6 average) and scored 2 touchdowns...all told, in 28 games as a prep, Eric rushed for 4,719 yards and scored 78 touchdowns, plus he caught 11 passes for 270 yards (24.5 average) and 5 TDs...career-wise, Eric is the #3 all-time scorer in CIF history with 266 total points...as a senior under Coach Newcomb, he also played outside linebacker and he had 46 solo tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 pass interceptions, blocked 3 kicks in four games and was responsible for a safety...his best offensive game as a prep was against Barstow High School when he rushed for 255 yards on 9 carries (28.3 average), scored 4 touchdowns and intercepted 1 pass as a junior...his best game as a senior was against Bakersfield High School when he rushed for 118 yards on 12 carries (9.8 average), scored 3 TDs, blocked a punt and intercepted a pass...his coach, Brent Newcomb, said, "He is an outstanding student and a player who never missed a day of practice. With his dedication and athletic ability, he should be a quality football player in college."...selected OSU over Washington, USC, Fresno State and Idaho.
