T.J. Ragan is in his second year at Oregon State University. Ragan assists with football and coordinates the programs for the men's and women's basketball teams.
Ragan came to OSU from Colgate University, where he served four years as assistant athletic director of athletic performance and director of strength and conditioning, overseeing 26 intercollegiate sports. From 1997-98 he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at the University of Nebraska.
He began his professional career in 1987 at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn., as an assistant strength and conditioning coach while he was still an undergraduate at the school. After completing his degree he served at the school as an assistant coach in football and track (sprints/jumps) during the 1991-92 academic year while continuing as the assistant strength and conditioning coach.
In 1990 Ragan founded Cross Training, Inc., an inner-city, a non-profit strength and conditioning youth organization in St. Paul. He served as the organization's executive director and coordinator of strength and conditioning through 1997. From 1994-96 he was also the strength and conditioning coach for Johnson High School in St. Paul and also had the duties of assistant coach in football, basketball, and track.
Ragan graduated with a bachelor's degree in theology from Bethel College in 1991, and added a coaching minor. He is currently enrolled in the OSU Graduate School with plans to graduate with a master's in exercise and sport science in 2005. He is also certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
T.J. and his wife, Jenny, have three children, James, John, and Sarah.
