2004: Joe will likely see action at defensive end this season after playing mostly special teams last season...currently listed second on the depth chart, but is a candidate to start.
2003: Joe played in all 13 games, mainly on special teams...he made 11 tackles for the season...had three tackles against Arizona and two against Stanford and in the Las Vegas Bowl vs. New Mexico.
2002: He redshirted after enrolling at OSU in January of 2002...originally signed a letter of intent in February of 2001.
WESTLAKE: Joe started three years at defensive end and one as a tight end for head coach Jim Benkert...during his three years Westlake posted a cumulative record of 31-6, including 13-1 and the CIF Division 4 title as a junior...as a senior he had 82 tackles, 12 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries and one interception...he also caught 16 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns...as a junior he had 88 tackles, 10 sacks, and 13 tackles for loss...as a sophomore made 95 stops with eight sacks...for his varsity career he accumulated 265 tackles...two-time All-Marmonte League selection on defense...named the Defensive Player of the Year by the Ventura County Coaches Association as a senior and added first team all-area by the Los Angeles Daily News, the Los Angeles Times and the Ventura County Star...Rivals.com rated him the 59th best prospect as his position.
