PENDLETON: A three-year starter on offense and defense for head coach Brice Gundlach...his position coach was Kyle Rosselle, a four-year letterman (1998-2001) defensive lineman at OSU...Schuening was an All-Intermountain League selection as a junior and senior and was the league's Lineman of the Year in 2002...was the most valuable lineman at the OSU and Oregon summer camps in 2002...second team all-state on defense and honorable mention on offense as a senior...SuperPrep Magazine Western All-Region team and ranked third on its list of top athletes for the state of Oregon and Washington...for his defensive career he had 114 tackles and 17 sacks...lettered two years in wrestling and three in track...broke the school record in the shot put with a toss of 56-6 as a senior...received two votes on the Long Beach Press Telegram Best in the West list...played in the Les Schwab Oregon Bowl in 2003.
PERSONAL: Born in Pendleton, Oregon...son of Ron and Renae Schuening...Ron is a truck driver and Renae is a teacher...has two sisters, Kelly and Carly...enjoys hunting and fishing...chose OSU because of the "atmosphere, town, and the coaching staff"...majoring in agriculture business.
