PALO VERDE: Gerard was a three-sport letterman...earned three letters in football for head coach Darwin Rost...second team All-Sunset Region as a senior after making 39 tackles, six pass breakups, and four interceptions...for his three-year career he had 93 tackles, 24 pass breakups and 10 interceptions...returned two interceptions for touchdowns as a senior...also was a solid running back, gaining 812 yards on 146 carries (5.6 avg.) and scoring 10 touchdowns his final prep season and accounted for 718 yards on 110 carries (6.5 avg.) and seven touchdowns as a junior...also returned kicks and punts...played in the Sunset-Sunrise Lion's All-Star game...also lettered three years in basketball and track...competed in the high jump and on the relay teams in track.
