PERSONAL--Born 4/2/75 in Denver, Colorado...son of Gary and Sandra Seibel...his father is a contractor and his mother is a customer service rep...has one younger sister, Mercedes, 22...Steve Atwater is his favorite athlete...Jason is in the College of Liberal Arts and his major is liberal studies...lifting weights, cars, fishing and hunting are his hobbies...his biggest athletic thrill to date was facing an All-American in the defensive line in the fifth game of the season in 1997 and he only made one tackle...selected OSU because, "the players and coaches made a difference...it make a big difference if you play for someone you like."
OSU--(1999-Senior)--Jason had reconstructive surgery on his right knee (ACL) following the 1998 season...did not participate in spring drills as a result, although by the end of the spring he could have practiced...despite not playing in the spring, Jason will return to fall camp listed as the No. 1 left tackle...now that he is completely healthy he has a chance to have an outstanding season, and certainly is a candidate to play at the next level following his collegiate career...extremely hard worker on the field and off the field...in the winter conditioning program, Jason established a new bench press lifting record by offensive linemen by lifting 445 pounds, breaking the previous best of 440 pounds by Larry Ramirez in 1998...because of his knee problem, Jason did not test in the clean lift...produced a back squat best of 285 and a best of 345 in the incline...Jason is a candidate for postseason honors.
(1998-Junior)--Jason reported to OSU for the start of fall camp in August and he quickly worked his way to No. 1 on the depth chart at left tackle...suffered a knee (right) injury in fall camp on the first day of practice and missed over a week until he got a special brace to wear...started all 11 games and played the entire season on a knee that would require surgery at the conclusion of the season...played very well for the Beavers in 1998...was a solid pass blocker and run blocker and was very consistent.
DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE, Pleasant Hill, CA--(1995-97) --Jason was a part-time student at Diablo Valley College in 1995 before turning out for football for the first time in 1996...he was named first-team junior college All-American by PrepStar Magazine following his sophomore season and one of PrepStar's top 100 junior college players in the country...he was Diablo's captain for two years in a row and was named the team's offensive MVP following his sophomore season...visited Michigan State, Indiana, Pittsburgh, UNLV and Oregon State...also recruited by Oregon, Hawaii, Kansas State and San Jose State...originally signed a letter in early signing period (December) with Michigan State, but he did not earn his AA degree from Diablo Valley following fall term and the letter therefore was invalid and he was once again a recruitable athlete...SuperPrep Magazine named him the 54th best junior college player in the country...played for Coach Ralph Depew and offensive line coach Pete Steffen, a former two-year letterman on the offensive line at Oregon State under Dave Kragthorpe (1988-89)...he was first-team all-conference (Northern California Football Conference) as a freshman and sophomore...he was team captain and the team MVP as a sophomore...according to coach Depew, "he has very quick feet and he was a real rock for us at left tackle...as good as he was for us, I think he has a tremendous future ahead of him at Oregon State...he has not come close to reaching his potential and with his size and quickness his upside is unlimited."
CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL, San Ramon, CA--(1992-94)--Attended California High School in San Ramon, CA...graduated in 1995...earned three letters in football, playing both offensive tackle and defensive end...played for Coach Pete Karibinis...he was an all-league (East Bay Athletic League) selection at offensive tackle his senior year...recorded 13 tackles and 3 sacks against Monte Vista High School his senior year in his top defensive game.
