PERSONAL—Born 4/7/81 in Berkeley, CA...son of Claudell Roberts and Carmen Buenger...his father is in construction and his mother is an administrative assistant...he is in the College of Liberal Arts and is a pre-communication major...he has a twin brother, Claudell Jr., plus another brother Ryan and a sister, Kaitlin...Deion Sanders is his favorite athlete...his top two athletic thrills as a prep athlete included intercepting three passes in one game vs. Alameda High School as a junior, returning two of the three for touchdowns, including one of 100 yards...as a senior, he rushed for 306 yards on 22 carries in one game vs. Piedmont High School and scored 5 touchdowns...he selected OSU because, “Of the opportunity to play under a football staff with big credentials, and to play in the Pac-10 Conference with a program going in a positive direction.”
OSU—(2002—Senior)—Terrell has played in 32 games thus far in his OSU career and has started 10 games at left corner, including nine straight...he has produced 207 career defensive points...he has 62 tackles, including 38 solo...has one tackle for loss and one caused fumble...has broken up 11 passes and has three career interceptions...twice as a junior, Terrell broke up four passes in a game, which ties an OSU single-game record...Terrell reported for spring drills as the No. 1 left corner and he will open fall camp as the starter...Terrell will also contend for the punt return chores in fall camp...Terrell has tremendous strength for his size and will deliver a strong blow...he is outstanding on run support as well as man pass coverage...during winter conditioning, Terrell posted impressive weightlifting marks of 455 in the back squat, 395 in the bench press and 264 in the power clean...he posted a vertical jump best of 35 inches.
OSU—(2001—Junior)—Terrell had a solid season in his first year as a starting cornerback...he started and played in 10 of 11 games in 2001...he missed the New Mexico State game as a result of suffering a broken left index finger while attempting to field a punt in the season opener at Fresno State...he was hit while signaling for a fair catch...Terrell accounted for 133 defensive points for OSU in 2001, the eighth best total on the squad...he had 32 tackles (18 solo), one tackle for loss, 11 passes broken up and three interceptions...he tied for sixth among Pac-10 defensive backs with 14 passes broken up during the season...had 18 defensive points at Fresno State on seven tackles and a tackle for loss...had one tackle vs. UCLA...had his best game of the season at Washington State with 37 points, coming on three tackles, four passes broken up and two interceptions...the interceptions were the first of his career and the four passes broken up tied an OSU single-game record...added two tackles vs. Arizona...scored 18 defensive points at ASU with three tackles and his third interception...he one tackle and a pass broken up vs. California...contributed three tackles and a pass broken up at USC...recorded 26 defensive points vs. Washington on six tackles and another four passes broken up to match his own career and OSU single-game best...had two tackles vs. Northern Arizona...Terrell also returned a pair of punts for 31 yards (32 long) in the NAU game...contributed three tackles at Oregon...Terrell had played in 22 games at OSU as he entered his junior season…he had played on special teams and he had been a backup safety and cornerback…Terrell opened spring drills as the No. 2 strong safety…he reported to the start of fall camp in the same No. 2 strong safety position…Terrell could have easily been a starter at any of the four defensive secondary positions in 2001…he is one of the hardest hitters on the OSU squad…Terrell posted impressive marks in the winter weightlifting program…he had bests of 350 in the bench press and 320 in the squat.
(2000—Sophomore)—Terrell played in all 12 games as a backup cornerback/safety and on special teams…he was a very valuable performer during the season…he produced a total of 53 defensive points, 18th best on the team…he had 20 tackles, including 14 solo…he also caused a fumble…his best defensive point game was against San Diego State when he had 18 points, coming on five solo tackles and three assisted tackles…he had a huge play in OSU’s 41-9 victory over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl…he scored his only collegiate touchdown to date when he recovered teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s fumble in the air and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown…T.J. was returning a punt against the Irish and when he was being tackled, the ball popped in the air and Terrell caught it and raced 45 yards...the touchdown put OSU up 27-3 with 12:04 remaining in the third quarter…Terrell reported for spring practice listed as the No. 2 free safety...he played both safety spots during the spring and wound up the No. 2 strong safety behind Terrence Carroll...he had a terrific spring...in OSU’s second scrimmage of the spring, he had an interception and returned it 15 yards...in the spring game, Terrell came up big as he intercepted a Shayne House pass and returned it 96 yards for a touchdown to put the winning White squad up 12-6 in the third quarter...the White team went on to win 26-10...in the winter conditioning program he posted weightlifting bests of 435 in the back squat, 345 in the bench press and 247 in the power clean..
(1999—Freshman)—Terrell did not play in OSU’s first two games, but played in the final 10 as a true freshman...he played on special teams and proved to be a very hard hitter...he worked his way to No. 2 at free safety behind Calvin Carlyle midway through the 1999 season...he produced 10 tackles and 21 defensive points in 10 games...Terrell reported to fall camp listed as a cornerback on the depth chart, but later moved to free safety.
EL CERRITO HIGH SCHOOL, El Cerrito, CA (1996-99)—Terrell, a two-year starter for El Cerrito, was selected as a preseason prep All-America pick as a defensive back by PrepStar Magazine...listed as sixth best defensive back in the Western region by PrepStar Magazine in its preseason publication...selected as the ninth best defensive back by PrepStar Magazine on its All-Western Region squad in its postseason issue...he also played tailback on offense...following his senior year, he was named first-team all-county (Contra Costa), first-team all-league (ACCAL--Alameda Contra Costa Athletic League), Player-of-the-Year in the ACCAL, first-team All-East Bay by the Oakland Tribune and first-team All-Bay Area by the San Francisco Examiner on both offense and defense...as a junior, Terrell was selected second-team all-league and all-county pick on defense, plus he was named to the junior all-state squad...ran the 40 in 4.53 in high school...as a part-time tailback during his junior year, Terrell rushed for 276 yards on only 13 carries (21.2 average) and scored six touchdowns...on defense, he picked off seven passes and returned four of them for touchdowns, including one for 100 yards...Terrell was a two-way starter during his senior year and posted outstanding numbers on offense for Coach Frank Milo and the El Cerrito Gauchos, a team that recorded a 10-3 record and played for the CIF 2A section championship...he carried the ball 176 times for a net 1,675 yards (1,721 gained, 46 lost), an average of 9.5 yards per carry, and 26 touchdowns...his longest run was 91 yards...he also scored five 2-point PATs to give him 166 points scored...he caught 11 passes for 100 yards, 9.1 average, with a long of 36 yards...he returned eight punts for 199 yards, 14.9 average, and a long of 35 yards...he had four punt returns for touchdowns called back...he also played cornerback and safety on defense and had 52 tackles, three pass interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one blocked PAT...his best individual game on defense was during his junior year when he picked off three interceptions vs. Alameda High School and returned two for touchdowns, including one for 100 yards...his best game during his senior season was on offense vs. Piedmont High School when he carried the ball 22 times for 306 yards and five touchdowns...also recruited by Washington, Nebraska, California, UCLA, BYU, Arizona, ASU, Illinois, San Diego State and Nebraska... “He carried the load offensively for us,” said Coach Milo. “He is physically very strong. He had benched 320 pounds, which is very good for a running back, and with that strength he is able to break tackles. He is also a very good cover player one on one. We rested him on defense because we needed him on offense. He is an outstanding kick returner. I think he can play on either side of the ball and be outstanding at the next level.”...he visited four schools: Oregon State, San Diego State, Nebraska and Fresno State, and all four offered scholarships...according to PrepStar Magazine, “Terrell rushed for 1,675 yards, while scoring 26 touchdowns in his first year as a running back. Roberts also accounted for 53 tackles and three pass interceptions from his DB position. Not bad when you consider that opposing teams tried to stay away from Terrell’s area all season long.”
