PERSONAL--(Pronunciation Tea-V-tah Moo-AL-ah) Born 7/27/75 in Hawthorne, CA...son of Talite and Toilose Moala...his father is a general contractor and his mother works in day care...he has 10 brothers and sisters, Kausi, 23; Joshua, 22; Taiana, 21; Altofi, 20, J.R., 18; Eric, 16; Tulu, 15; Gina, 13; Seijah, 2; and J.D., 1...enjoys fishing...plans to major in business...favorite athletes include Sam Mills, Zach Thomas, Jesse Tuggle and Ronnie Lott.
OSU--(2000-Senior)--Tevita enters his senior year having played in 12 games for OSU...he has 110 career defensive points...with the graduation of Jonathan Jackson at middle linebacker Tevita was installed as the No. 1 middle linebacker for the start of spring drills...he is an outstanding talent and leader...Tevita is a player who will be an impact player, no matter which of the linebacker positions he plays...he has motor that runs full speed all the time...he was off to a great start in spring drills, only to suffer a freak knee injury during the warm-up drills prior to OSU’s first spring scrimmage...the result of the injury turned out to be a torn ACL in his left knee, which required reconstructive surgery in April...football trainer Barney Graff expects Tevita to be able to participate in drills when fall camp opens on August 13...Tevita is a very important key to OSU’s defensive unit...the Beavers definitely need him in the lineup...in winter conditioning, Tevita posted weightlifting bests of 420 in the back squat, 315 in the bench press and 280 in the power clean.
OSU-(1999-Junior)--Tevita reported to OSU at fall camp and was listed as a strong-side linebacker...he will have two years to play two seasons.
EL CAMINO COLLEGE, Torrance, CA (1998) --Tevita transferred to El Camino College in the spring of 1998 and played one year of football (1998) for El Camino College...played linebacker for Coach John Featherstone...led El Camino in tackles in 1998 with 103, 44 solo and 47 assisted...had 10 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, 3 passes broken up and 3 caused fumbles...named honorable mention All-American by J.C. Grid-Wire...selected to JC Athletic Bureau's first team all-state squad in Region IV...first team selection on Mission Conference Northern Division squad...also recruited by Minnesota, Missouri and Iowa State...signed a letter of intent in February, 1999, with Minnesota and was not granted admission...after given a release by Minnesota, Tevita elected to enroll at Oregon State in 1999...Coach Featherstone said, "Tevita is a player who plays sideline to sideline. He plays with a lot of enthusiasm. He would take on all 11 guys on offense if he could, he is that type of player. BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY--(1993-97)--Signed a letter of intent to attend BYU out of high school and played football as a freshman for the Cougars in 1993 and played three games at strong safety before suffering a season ending injury...following his freshman year at BYU, Tevita went on a Mormon Mission and returned to BYU for the fall of 1997 before transferring to El Camino College in the spring of 1998..
HAWTHORNE HIGH SCHOOL, (1991-93)--Tevita attended Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, CA...graduated in 1993...earned two letters and was a two-year starter in football as a running back and linebacker, while playing for Coach Dan Robbins...earned four letters in track and field...as a junior, Tevita was named the Bay League's Most Valuable Player on defense...first-team selection on the South Bay Daily Breeze all-area team at linebacker...also a first-team selection on the Los Angeles Times all-area team at linebacker...going into his senior year, he was a preseason top 100 pick in the State of California by Cal-Hi Sports...following his senior season, a season when he established a school record with 170 tackles, was named the Bay League Most Valuable Player on defense for the second year in a row...he was named CIF Player of the Year in his section and Division II at linebacker...named South Bay Daily Breeze Player of the Year at linebacker; named Back of the Year in his area by the Los Angeles Times; selected first-team all-state by Cal-Hi Sports at running back and linebacker and selected USA Today honorable mention All-America at linebacker...Hawthorne produced a 22-4 record during his two seasons of football...also recruited by California, Washington, UCLA, Kansas, Iowa State and Fresno State.
