PERSONAL--Born 12/6/76 in New York, New York...son of Sherol Bryant...his mother is a teacher...has an older brother, Joshua, 22; and a younger brother, Bryant, 15...Terrance is in the College of Liberal Arts and is a liberal studies major at OSU...two high school teammates playing Division 1-A football are Charles Lee at Central Florida and Ted Lee and Florida A&M...selected OSU because, "I want to help OSU go to a bowl game and also continue my education."
OSU-(1999-Senior)--Terrance entered spring drills listed No. 2 on the depth chart behind Jonathan Smith, who started the last three games of the 1998 season...Terrance had an outstanding spring and competed head-to-head with Smith for the starting quarterback position and the battle is expected to continue into fall camp before Coach Dennis Erickson makes a decision on the starter against Nevada...in the three major spring scrimmages, Terrance was 6 for 14 for 106 yards and a touchdown passing, plus he rushed for 25 yards on 5 carries at Roseburg on April 17...came back with a 3 for 9 passing day for only 39 yards in the scrimmage on April 24 at Prothro Field...he rushed for 36 yards on 9 carries in the same scrimmage...had a big day in the final Spring game at Hillsboro on May 1...led the White squad to a 31-24 victory, completing 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown, plus he carried the ball 7 times for a net 53 yards, including a 19-yard TD run...was intercepted one time during the Spring game...threw a 54-yard TD pass to Roddy Tompkins for the Spring game's first touchdown...he will report to fall camp listed No. 2 on the depth chart at quarterback, but could very easily be the starter against Nevada...his game improved a great deal during his first spring practice at OSU...in the weight room, Terrance has produced personal bests of 205 pounds in the hang clean; 295 in the bench press; 365 in the back squat and 260 in the incline...his vertical jump best is 25.00 inches and he was tested for only 6.55 percent body fat.
(1998-Junior)--Terrance did not have the benefit of spring practice and won the starting quarterback job with his performance in fall camp...after starting OSU's first eight games, Terrance did not play in the Beavers' last three games...he suffered a back injury in the second quarter of the Arizona game and was not at full strength the rest of the season...Terrance was on track to pass for over 2,000 yards in 1998 before being injured...finished his 1998 season averaging 170.3 yards per game...against Washington (10/24), his last starting assignment, Terrance passed for 39 yards and rushed for a net 27 yards, including a career-long 28-yard run, while playing in the first quarter and part of the third quarter...Terrance had his toughest day this season against Arizona (10/17)...Terrance was hit in the low back with a helmet in the final minute of the first half against the Wildcats and suffered back spasms and didn't play the rest of the game...completed 6 of 16 passes for 73 yards while he was in the game...(Stanford, 10/10) Terrance established an OSU and Pac-10 Conference record in the Stanford game...he threw 170 passes over a five-game stretch without an interception before he was picked off on his 171 throw by Stanford's Tim Smith...the 170 passes broke the previous OSU mark of 126 in a season by Erik Wilhelm (1986)...he also broke the Pac-10 record of 150 by California's Pat Barnes in 1996...he was close to the Pac-10 career record of 216 over two seasons by USC's Brad Otton (1994-95)...Bryant's streak included his final four passes in the Baylor game, 46 at USC, 50 at Arizona State, 40 at Utah State and 30 at Stanford...Terrance also registered OSU career highs in passing yardage (276) and total offense (262) against Stanford...his 276 yards passing is the 22nd best single-game performance at OSU and his 262 yards in total offense is also the 22nd single-game mark at OSU...Terrance, a junior college All-America quarterback last year at City College of San Francisco, got his OSU and Division I collegiatecareer off to a great start by connecting for a 68-yard touchdown pass against Nevada 9/5 on his first pass in a Beaver uniform...the 68-yard pass was the 14th longest pass play in OSU history and the ninth longest scoring pass...that pass went to James Battle...in his first collegiate start, Bryant finished with 209 yards passing, completing 15 of 29 attempts...he threw for one touchdown and was intercepted one time...he had 211 yards in total offense...his passing efficiency after one game was 116.74. (Baylor, 9/12) Terrance completed 21 of 36 passes for 208 yards, one touchdown and one interception while leading OSU to a 27-17 victory over Baylor...had 202 yards in total offense. (USC, 9/19) Bryant suffered his first defeat as OSU's starting quarterback against USC as he completed 19 of 46 passes for 101 yards and one touchdown. (ASU, 10/26) Terrance completed 29 of 50 passes for 198 yards at ASU and had 177 yards in total offense...(Utah State, 10/3) Terrance accounted for 255 yards in total offense at Utah State, a career best for Terrance and the 23rd best single-game mark in OSU history...passed for 258 yards, completing 22 of 40 and throwing for one touchdown...(Season) in eight nine games, Terrance had a passing efficiency of 94.7, and an average of 166.3 yards in total offense...threw four touchdown passes...he established an Oregon State record and Pac-10 record by throwing 170 passes without an interception over a four-game stretch...the old OSU record was 126 by Erik Wilhelm (1986) and the old Pac-10 mark was 150 by California's Pat Barnes in 1996...passed for 1,362 yards and had 1,330 yards in total offense...was second on team to Jonathan Smith in total offense and passing yardage...had four games with over 200 yards passing and four games over 200 yards in total offense.
CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO (1996-97)--Played for Coach George Rush at City College of San Francisco...runs the 40 in 4.6...recruited by several schools but it came down to Purdue and Oregon State before finally selecting the Beavers...he is a first-team JC Athletic Bureau All-American...named first-team all-state in Region II among California community colleges...named by PrepStar Magazine as one of its top 100 junior college players in the nation...SuperPrep Magazine selected him as the 31st best junior college player in the nation and a JC All-American...he was a first-team Golden Gate Conference all-star...led CCSF to a 11-1 record and No. 2 national ranking...CCSF was runner-up for the California Community College championship, losing to Mt. San Antonio 38-35 in the Blue Diamond championship game played at Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 13...in the championship game, Terrance completed 17 of 30 passes for 372 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus he ran for 2 touchdowns...was intercepted twice in the championship game...in the regional championship bowl, CCSF defeated Butte 42-17 in the Hawaiian Punch Bowl at San Francisco on Dec. 6...in the regional championship game, Terrance completed 16 of 28 passes for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions...in the 10 game regular season in 1997, Terrance completed 147 of 255 passes (.576) for 2,480 yards and 20 touchdowns with only 6 passes intercepted...he carried the ball 74 times for 129 yards (1.7 average) and 4 touchdowns...had 2,609 yards in total offense on 329 plays for an average of 260.9 yards per game and was responsible for 24 touchdowns...CCSF led the California community colleges in total offense, averaging 486.9 yards per game...Terrance led the JC Athletic Bureau teams in passing efficiency (159.2), he was ninth in passing yardage and seventh in total offense...by adding his two playoff games, Terrance completed 180 of 313 passes (.575 percentage) for 3,115 yards and 25 touchdowns...CCSF was 10-1 his freshman year when Terrance completed 92 of 145 passes (.634 percentage) for 1,484 yards and 22 touchdowns with 4 interceptions...led CCSF to a 21-2 record in two years while passing for a total of 4,599 yards and 47 touchdowns, completing 272 of 458 passes (.594 percentage) and only 12 interceptions...Dan Hayes was his quarterback coach at CCSF and feels the left-handed thrower has all the ingredients to be an outstanding Division I-A quarterback...coach Rush said, "Terrance has a real strong arm, and has come a long way from high school. He has worked hard. He has a good understanding of offenses and defenses, and he has the ability to escape the pass rush, and he makes good decisions. He can throw the football and he brings a lot of good qualities to the table. He had to audible a lot in our offense and we run an offense very similar to what Mike Riley runs at OSU."
HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL, Miami, FL (1993-95)--Terrance earned three letters in football at Homestead High School playing for Coach Hardy...he also was a starter on the basketball team as a junior and senior and averaged 12.8 points a game as a senior...he was a two-year starter in football and Homestead was 21-7 during his three-year tenure...as a junior, Terrance completed 85 of 135 passes (.630 percentage) for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions...as a senior, he completed 101 of 148 passes (.682 percentage) and 19 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions...following his senior year, Terrance played in the Miami All-Star game and was the game MVP after completing 9 of 15 passes for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns...his best prep game was against South Dade High School when he completed 13 of 15 passes for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns.
