PERSONAL--Born 1/15/78 in Florida....son of Sheila Love...family includes Chris, 28; Rodney, 26; Julian, 19; Sheraka, 17; and Shatera, 14...Antonio is in the College of Liberal Arts and is a liberal studies major...his brother Chris played football at Virginia...selected OSU because, “to get a chance to prove myself.”
OSU--(2000-Senior)--Antonio who came to OSU as a walk-on, was put on scholarship at the start of winter quarter following the 1999 season...he played in 10 of 12 games in 1999, missing the USC and Washington games...Antonio entered spring drills as the No. 2 tailback...he had a solid spring...during the four scrimmages, he rushed for 70 yards on 9 carries in the first scrimmage...he gained 56 yards on 16 carries in the second scrimmage and caught 1 pass for 2 yards...in scrimmage No. 3, he led all tailbacks with 70 yards on 12 carries...in the final spring game, he carried the ball twice for 1 yard for the winning White team and he did not play in the second half due to an injury...he will report to fall camp as the No. 3 tailback behind Ken Simonton and Patrick McCall, giving OSU a very potent three-man rotation...in the weight room, Antonio posted bests of 435 pounds in the back squat, a 285 mark in the bench press and a 276 power clean best.
(1999-Junior)--Joined the Oregon State program for the start of fall camp as a walk-on...he was recruited to hopefully earn a spot as a backup to starter Ken Simonton at tailback...Anontio impressed enough in fall camp to work his way to No. 3 on the depth chart at tailback and earned a spot on the traveling squad against Nevada in the season opener...he worked his way to No. 2 on the depth chart following the Washington game...when Ken Simonton suffered bruised ribs against UCLA in the first quarter, Antonio entered the UCLA game in the middle of the first quarter as Simonton’s replacement and carried the ball 16 times for 105 yards, a 6.6 average, including a 50-yard TD run which gave OSU a 28-7 lead at the time...he started the Beavers’ next game at Washington State with Simonton still on the mend and carried the ball 26 times for 86 yards, a 3.3 average and 1 touchdown...he had 100 yards in all-purpose running against WSU...Antonio rushed for 19 yards on 6 carries in the Oahu Bowl against Hawaii...Antonio gained 211 yards on the ground on 50 carries in 1999 to be OSU’s second-leading rusher... scored 2 touchdowns...caught 2 passes for 17 yards...returned 5 kicks for 73 yards and accounted for 301 all-purpose yards, eighth best on the team.
MOUNT SENARIO COLLEGE, Ladysmith, Wisconsin--(1996)--Antonio played one year of football for Mount Senario College, an NAIA school in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.
JONES COUNTY COLLEGE, Ellisville, MS--(1998)--Antonio did not play football in 1997 and transferred to Jones County College in 1998 and played football for Coach Parker Dykes...rushed for over 1,000 yards in six games for Jones County College, scoring 8 touchdowns with a long run of 85 yards...named the most improved player on the team.
WELLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, West Palm Beach, FL--(1992-95)--Antonio was a four-year starter and letterman tailback at Wellington High School and signed a letter of intent to attend Florida State following his graduation in 1996, but failed to qualify for admission...played football for Coach Tom Cherry...also earned four letters in track and field and posted a PR of 10.6 in the 100 meters...earned prep All-American honors as a senior in 1995 and was an all-region selection by Blue Chip Magazine...named the top athlete in his league (Palm Beach County Conference) his senior year...all told, in Antonio’s four-year prep career he rushed for over 5,000 yards, had over 3,000 yards in receiving yardage and scored a total of 66 touchdowns on the ground, another 17 on pass receptions and 14 on kickoff returns for a total of 97 touchdowns...had 800 yards rushing with 11 touchdowns as a freshman, plus he had over 800 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns...rushed for 1,100 yards as a sophomore with 15 running touchdowns and added over 1,000 yards receiving with another 5 touchdowns...rushed for 1,700 yards as a junior with 23 rushing touchdowns...had over 1,000 yards in pass receptions with 6 touchdowns...rushed for 1,500 yards as a senior with 17 touchdowns, plus he had 600 yards receiving with another 5 touchdowns...as a kick returner, he returned kickoffs for 400 yards and 2 touchdowns as a freshman; 388 yards and 4 touchdowns as a sophomore; 500 yards and 6 touchdowns as a junior and 420 yards and 4 touchdowns as a senior...in his top individual game as a prep player, he rushed for 275 yards on 15 carries and scored 5 touchdowns.
