PERSONAL—Born 9/26/80…raised by his grandparents, Alvin and Annie Steen…he has one older brother, Jason, 23, who played football at USC (1997-98)…his uncle, Terril Steen, played football for San Diego State…he is in the College of Liberal Arts and is a liberal studies major…enjoys fishing and video games…Marshall Faulk is his favorite athlete…selected Oregon State because, “it’s a great opportunity to play and go to the Rose Bowl.”
OSU—(2002—Senior)—Alvin enters his senior season having played in 10 games as a junior...he report to spring drills listed No. 3 on the depth chart at left defensive end and his status did not change at the conclusion of spring drills...Alvin is listed behind junior Noah Happe and sophomore Bill Swancutt on the depth chart...during the winter program, Alvin posted weightlifting bests of 405 in the back squat, 375 in the bench press, 259 in the power clean and 342 in the push press...his top vertical jump mark was 28 inches.
(2001—Junior)—Alvin played in 10 games for OSU in 2001, missing only the Oregon game...he played as a backup defensive end and recorded 38 defensive points, which ranked 19th on the squad...had six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and a pass break up...he produced one tackle at Fresno State and two at New Mexico State...blanked in defensive points vs. UCLA and at Washington State...broke up a pass vs. Arizona...blanked against ASU and California...had solid game at USC with 13 points on one tackle and a sack...had statistical high game vs. Washington with two tackles and a sack...produced one tackle vs. Northern Arizona...enrolled at OSU during spring quarter and participated in spring drills…he opened spring drills as the No. 2 defensive left end…he had a close battle with Dan Rothwell during the spring for the starting spot…he returned to fall camp listed No. 2 at left end…he posted a weightlifting best of 360 in the bench press.

Grid-Wire following the 2000 season at Los Angeles Harbor College…he played in only seven games his sophomore season due to an injury…selected first team All-American by J.C. Grid-Wire on its 2000 preseason team…played for Coach Steve Schmitz…he was selected first-team all-league (Western States) as a freshman and sophomore…recorded 80 tackles (50 solo) in nine games as a freshman, including 10 sacks, 23 tackles for loss and three blocked kicks…produced 50 tackles (30 solo) in seven games a sophomore, including 14 sacks and 21 tackles for loss…he also blocked a kick and recovered two fumbles…he was team captain as a sophomore…he holds records for career sacks (24) and for sacks in a game (6)…rated as the 28th best junior college player in the nation by SuperPrep Magazine.
SERRA HIGH SCHOOL, Gardena, CA—He played defensive end, quarterback and wide receiver at Serra in the Mission League…he recorded 130 tackles with 10 sacks and six interceptions as a prep junior and 121 tackles with 18 sacks and two interceptions as a senior…completed 35 of 60 passes for 510 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions as a senior…also caught 14 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns…caught 10 passes for 50 yards and two touchdowns as a junior while playing for Coach Charles Nash…as a senior, Alvin was listed by SuperPrep Magazine as the 62nd best prospect in California and the 10th best linebacker on West Coast…he was a first-team All-Mission League pick as a junior and senior and was named the league’s defensive MVP both years…he was a first-team pick on the South Bay Daily Breeze all-star team.
