Chianello Leads Beavers On Day One At Alister MacKenzie

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Junior Nick Chianello shot a 3-under 71-68--139 in his first career appearance for Oregon State to lead the Beavers at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif., on Monday.
The Beavers shot a 6-under 281-281--562 at the par-71, 6,718-yard Meadow Club and sit in ninth place after day one of the two-day, 54-hole event that concludes on Tuesday.
Chianello, who transferred to Oregon State last spring when the University of Portland dropped its golf program, had one birdie and one bogey in the morning round and got hot in the afternoon round with five birdies and is tied for 22nd place. Senior Alex Moore is tied for 34th with a 1-under 72-69--141 and sophomore David Fink is tied for 38th with an even-par 72-70-142.
Senior Jonnie Motomochi matched Chianello for the team-low round of the day with a 3-under 68 in the morning and is tied for 48th with a 1-over 68-75--143. Junior Nick Sherwood is tied for 55th with a 2-over 70-74--144.
The final round begins with tee times at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday and live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
