Men's Rowing Travels to Pac-10 Championships
May 14, 2010
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 18 Oregon State men’s rowing team returns to action this week as they travel to the Pac-10 Championships on Sunday at Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.
The freshman will race at 9:30 a.m., the second varsity will race at 10:30 a.m., and the varsity crew will finish the day of racing at 11:30 a.m.
The Beavers are traveling to take on the other teams from the Pac-10, including No. 1 ranked Washington, No. 2 California, and No. 12 Stanford.
“It’s always exciting to race for the conference championship,” said head coach Steve Todd. “The guys will be in a new environment for this season, racing six boats across instead of a dual race format.”
Last year the men took fourth at the Pac-10 Championships. They have been working hard all season to fine-tune techniques and lineups for this weekend’s races.
“The varsity needs to work on a more aggressive start, and then really focus in on their race,” Todd said.
