A.D. Report -- Welcome to OURBEAVERNATION.COM

Corvallis, Ore. -
"12,000 by 2012." This phrase has become a steady drumbeat for our efforts to expand Beaver Nation by doubling our donor base by 2012. I've been talking about this goal for a few years now, and we're making progress. Starting Wednesday, you'll see that we're ratcheting up our efforts by launching a new website to help us focus on achieving this goal: www.ourbeavernation.com
This website becomes the new home and landing pad for all of our athletics fund-raising activities. It's a dedicated website for the Beaver Athletic Student Fund (BASF). In last month's A.D. Report, I wrote about our new partnership with Pursuant Sports, a leader in fund-raising and online media solutions. Pursuant has helped us design this site with our primary goal in mind. Wednesday's launch marks the next step in a two-and-a-half-year project to expand Beaver Nation.
We realized long ago that for Oregon State to continue to compete and be successful in the most competitive conference in the country--the new Pac-12--we need to broaden our donor base. As I've written many times before, football season ticket sales and BASF donations alone will not get us to our goal. We need to engage more donors who believe in what we're doing for our 500+ student-athletes, who believe in the philanthropic mission of creating opportunities for young adults. That is to say, we must broaden our borders and engage more people--people who may never make it to one of our home games at Reser Stadium.
This new website, which will link to osubeavers.com and vice versa, clearly aligns with all of the interests and pursuits of our 17 programs that make up OSU Athletics. But it goes beyond weekly rankings, press releases and stories about the great endeavors of our student-athletes. Although success of high-profile and revenue-generating sports like football and basketball raise any university's national profile, we want to ensure that the face we show the nation represents the heart of Oregon State. It truly is our heart that separates us.
We are driven by our mission to develop Everyday Champions, student-athletes who excel on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community. We're developing future leaders for our state and country; young men and women who have exceptional potential and are extraordinary achievers in today's competitive environment after graduating from OSU.
Our athletics success and growing national profile do, indeed, represent the door to Oregon State. We are optimistic that when people look further, they will engage and believe in our mission.
You can help by signing up to get updates from the new website. By clicking on www.ourbeavernation.com, you can submit your e-mail address to get the latest updates once the site goes live. Feel free to forward the link to friends and family. We've come a long way in the last decade. Imagine how far we can go when we achieve our 12,000 by 2012 goal.
