It takes a lifetime to become an All-Star.
Samaritan Advantage Health Plan and the OSU Beavers Baseball Team honored Albany resident, Mary Ray, with the Samaritan Advantage All-Star Senior award on May 17th at Goss Stadium in Corvallis.
A fellow Albany resident sent in the scouting report on Mary, describing her work for Oregon’s Donate Life Northwest, an organization dedicated to increasing the organ donor pool in Oregon and Southwest Washington through advocacy for improved donation laws, educational programs, and public awareness campaigns.
Mary was chosen from amongst 23 finalists for the Samaritan Advantage All-Star Senior award for moving beyond being an organ donor recipient, at age 68, to setting the record for signing up new donors – over 500 to date – and taking it upon herself to educate youth in the Willamette Valley area about the importance of considering organ donation through ongoing outreach to colleges, high schools and middle schools from Eugene to Albany.
That, in our judgment is an All-Star performance!
