Denfeld Primed For NCAA West Regional - Oregon State University Athletics

CORVALLIS – Senior Lauren Denfeld (Bend, Ore.) is wrapping up the Oregon State women’s track season this Saturday at the NCAA Track and Field West Region Championships. Denfeld is competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The regional is being hosted by Cal State Northridge in Northridge Calif. The 3,000-meter steeplechase begins at 5:15 p.m. at the Matador Track and Field Complex.

Denfeld has had another outstanding track season in which she broke her own Oregon State 3,000-meter steeplechase record by eight seconds at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Stanford, Calif. with a time of 10:38.28.

Last season Denfeld qualified for the West Regional in Eugene, Ore. Denfeld finished the meet fourth in her section and 19th overall after being seeded 26th.

Denfeld is only the second Beaver runner to qualify for regionals since the programs return in 2004. Ashley Younce qualified in 2006 in the 5,000-meters.

West Regional Championship action began on begins Friday, May 29 with the hammer throw at 10 a.m.
