Men's Soccer Players Train with Professional Squads

CORVALLIS, Ore. Four Oregon State men’s soccer players had the unique opportunity of training with professional squads over spring break as the Beavers begin preparation for the 2008 spring season.
, , and have all returned to the Beavers program after spending a week training with professional clubs.
“We are proud of the fact so many of our players move on to successful professional careers and we feel like we do a good job of preparing them for the challenges that lie ahead,” head coach said.
“The experience helped them prepare for the day-to-day challenges of professional soccer and showcase their skills to professional coaches. We have a very talented group of seniors, many of whom we feel will receive consideration for playing at the next level.”
During their week away from Oregon State, Callahan, Cameron and Leach traveled to Denver, Colo., to train with the Colorado Rapids of the MLS while Kelly spent his time training with the City Stars of USL in Cleveland, Ohio.
Several Oregon State players have signed with professional squads in recent months as was recently called-up to the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS while and have recently signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL.
Oregon State opens the 2008 spring season as the Beavers travel to Portland, Ore., on Saturday, April 5, to take on Portland at 10:00 a.m. and the Portland Timbers at 12:30 p.m.
