Six Beavers on Arthur Ashe Scholar Team - Oregon State University Athletics

Corvallis – Six Oregon State University student-athletes have been selected to the Arthur Ashe Jr., Sports Scholar Team, it was announced Friday by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Gymnasts and were joined by golfer , soccer player , rower and baseball player .

Lamb and Johnson were selected to the team for the third consecutive year. Lamb, from Knoxville, Tenn., lettered four years and earned All-American honors on the vault at April’s NCAA Championships. Johnson, from Portland, lettered four years and was the 2007 medalist at the PGA Minority Championships.

Callahan of Lafayette, Calif., was selected to the team for the second year. Chong of Coquitlam, B.C., Young of Salem and Ogata of Portland were first-year honorees.

The awards honor undergraduate student-athletes of color who have excelled athletically and academically. To be included on the team individuals must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and be active in community service.
