Wrestling Nabs a Pair of All-Academic Honors

Walnut Creek, Calif. Two Oregon State wrestlers were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Wrestling Teams, announced Monday by Commissioner Tom Hansen.
Junior (Federal Way, Wash.) earned first team honors, while redshirt freshman (Milwaukie, Ore.) earned honorable mention. Bressler is a Construction Engineering major, while Patrick is majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences.
This is Bressler’s third honor after being named to the first team in 2006 and receiving second team accolades last season. Bressler advanced to the NCAA Championships this season after being named the Pac-10 Champion at 197 pounds. Last season, he qualified at 184 pounds.
Patrick picks up his first Pac-10 All-Academic honor after finishing fourth at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships. He missed the majority of the season due to a neck injury.
To be eligible for selection to an academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and either be a starter or significant contributor.
