Two Beavers Set Out for USA Olympic Trials

CORVALLIS, Ore. Brittney Iverson will compete in the 200 individual medley for her spot on the United States Olympic swim team that will travel to Beijing in August. The trials will begin Sunday, June 29, and end Sunday, July 6, at the Qwest Center Omaha in Omaha, Neb.
During the Pacific-10 Championships, Iverson broke her own personal record in the 200 individual medley and moved up the ladder on the Oregon State all-time list into fourth place with a time of 2:02.24, shattering her old record by nearly three seconds.
New to the Beaver swim team, Rachael Wahl, will also be trying for her spot on the USA team by competing in the 100 butterfly and the 200 butterfly.
Iverson will begin competition at 9 a.m. on July 1 during the preliminaries for the 200 individual medley. Semifinals for the event will be held the same day at 4:45 p.m., with the finals following on July 2 at 4:45 p.m.
Wahl will compete June 29 at 9 a.m. in the preliminaries for the 100 butterfly, with the semifinals being held at 4:45 p.m. the same day. The finals for the 100 butterfly will be June 30 at 4:45 p.m. Wahl’s last event, the 200 butterfly, will begin with the preliminaries July 2 at 9 a.m. and the semifinals following at 4:45 p.m. Finals for the 200 butterfly will begin at 6:45 p.m. on July 3.
The USA Olympic Trials will be broadcasted live on NBC at 5 p.m. June 29, and July 4-6. The USA network will also broadcast the trials at 5 p.m. June 30, and July 1-3.
Saori Haruguchi has already qualified for the Japanese Olympic swim team in the 400 individual medley after she won the event during the Japanese Olympic trials back in April.
