Volleyball Leads All Teams for Second Straight Term

Corvallis, Ore. The Oregon State volleyball program led all other Oregon State teams for the second term in a row for the Spring 2008 cumulative grade point average.
The team boasted a 3.37 average with nine members earning a 3.0 or higher and two with perfect 4.0 GPAs for the term.
The squad has also been nominated for the 2007-08 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, honoring volleyball teams at the high school and college levels that are successful in the classroom.
Nomination requirements include that the varsity team must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale during the entire 2007-08 academic year.
The Beavers completed their goal of posting a team grade point average above a 3.0 every term after earning a 3.25 in the fall and a 3.46 in the winter.
The team placed seven student-athletes to the 2007 Pac-10 All-Academic teams in the fall with senior Kristin Murray (Crescent City, Calif.) leading the way with first team honors. Sophomore Bree Knitter (Fallbrook, Calif.) earned her first All-Academic nod with second team honors, while juniors Ashley Evans (West Linn, Ore.), Jennifer Fitz (Gresham, Ore.) and Natalie Hooper (Roseburg, Ore.) and sophomore Lexie Rathgeber (White Rock, British Columbia) all earned honorable mention.
Nine other teams earned above a 3.0 as a team with women’s cross country and track close behind volleyball with a team GPA of 3.36.
