De Carolis, 53, began his OSU career
Since De Carolis has been in Corvallis OSU has engaged in over $130 million in capital facility projects which has directly affected the 500 Beaver student-athletes along with coaches, staff and fans of Beaver Nation. During his tenure as the director, De Carolis led the largest fundraising campaign in the history of the athletic department in raising $30 million toward the $80 million construction project “Raising Reser Expanding Beaver Nation” phase 1 and the recently completed $33 million phase 2 project which increased Reser Stadium’s capacity over 45,000. Reser Stadium know enjoys state of the art amenities including a new LED ribbon board on the Valley Football Center and a 150' wide videoboard with 80' of video display area in the north endzone which is the largest in the Pac-10 Conference.
In addition, De Carolis has been at the forefront in recent coaching hires that include Mike Riley (football), LaVonda Wagner (women’s basketball), Terry Liskevych (volleyball), Jim Zalesky (wrestling) and Kelly Sullivan (women’s track/cross country). He also recently signed head coaches Pat Casey (baseball), Kirk Walker (softball), Tanya Chaplin (gymnastics) and Dana Taylor (men’s soccer) to contract extensions.
Under his leadership, nearly all of the department’s 17 intercollegiate athletic programs have participated in postseason competition in the last four years including several Pac-10 championships, national NCAA appearances and highlighted by back-to-back baseball national championships in 2006 and 2007. Off the fields of play, the overall grade point average for student-athletes has risen, the department has eliminated a $12.5 accumulated deficit five years ahead of schedule. He has also overseen the Beaver Athletic Student Fund’s (BASF) annual giving increase from $5 million to just over $11 million.
