Follow the Beavers In The Summer Leagues

Oregon State baseball players don’t take the summer off. Instead, they travel to cities and towns in various parts of the United States to hone their skills. Twenty-six players from OSU’s 2008 club will be featured on summer league teams this season. Below is a listing of where fans can find them this summer and how to follow each player.
Alaska Baseball League
The Alaska Baseball League plays a 35-game schedule that begins June 9 and ends August 1. Six teams make up the Alaska Baseball League, with the league champion and second-place finisher qualifying for the National Baseball Congress World Series.

The Cape Cod League has been known as the preeminent summer league for collegiate baseball players. The summer season begins June 13 and it ends August 15, with the teams playing 44 games. Ten clubs make up the league, with the Cape Cod League All-Star Game scheduled for July 26 at Chatham. In the playoffs, the top two teams from each division meet in a best-of-three semifinals. The New England Collegiate Baseball League is comprised of 12 teams and was established in 1993. Teams start June 6 and conclude their season July 31, playing 42 games in between. An All-Star Game is scheduled for July 20 at Torrington. In the postseason, he top four teams in each division meet in a best-of-three quarterfinals. Winners then meet in a best-of-three divisional championship. Those winners then meet in a best-of-three final for the league title. Visit to follow the league.

The Northwoods League plays a 68-game split-schedule amongst 14 teams, with the league schedule starting May 29 and concluding August 17. An All-Star game is scheduled for July 14 at Madison. The first-half and second-half winners play a best-of-three series to advance to the league’s title series; also a best-of-three. Visit to follow the Northwoods League.

The West Coast Collegiate Baseball League was founded in 2005 and features eight teams that are scheduled for 42 games. The season’s opening date is scheduled for June 12 and the conclusion is August 10. An All-Star game is scheduled for July 22 at Moses Lake. In the playoffs, first- and second-place teams in each division meet in best-of-three semifinal series. Those winners advance to a best-of-three series for the league title.
