Lamb Finishes Seventh in Vault Finals
Athens, Ga. – Oregon State senior scored the fifth-highest scoring vault of the day before settling for seventh in Saturday’s NCAA Championships Individual Finals. Lamb was one of three Oregon State gymnasts to receive All-American recognition on Saturday.
Lamb competing eighth out of 10 competitors earned a combined score of 9.7375 temporarily placing her in fifth. Needing to perform two different vaults in the Individual Finals, Lamb scored 9.875 on her first attempt, her usual Yurchenko with a half-twist. However, her second vault (Yurchenko layout) was of lower value and dropped her total score.
“It was fun. That was the way I want to remember going out,” Lamb said. “Vault was always my favorite event. It was a lot of fun to earn a spot in event finals and I had a great time with it.”
“She did a great job on her first vault,” associate head coach said. “We only had a layout as an option for the second vault and we don’t practice those. I’m really proud of Yuki. This was a great accomplishment to reach individual finals and is a great achievement to cap a great career.”
This is the third straight year that OSU has had an All-American on the vault with earning All-America honors in 2006 and 2007 and earning honors in 2007 also.
