Men's Golf Places Three on Pac-10 Academic Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. The Oregon State men’s golf team placed three golfers on the 2008 Pac-10 Conference All-Adacemic squad as the Beavers led the league with two first-team selections the conference office announced on Tuesday. Tyler Simpson and Alex Williams earned first-team honors while Vincent Johnson was a second-team selection.
Williams, a junior with a 3.67 GPA in history, earns his second straight selection to the first-team all-academic squad. Meanwhile, Simpson, a redshirt freshman, earns his first career selection to the squad as he carries a 3.80 GPA in construction engineering.
Johnson earns his third career selection to the second-team all-academic squad as the senior carries a 3.12 GPA in business administration and will graduate this year.
This marks the seventh straight year Oregon State has had at least three golfers selected to the academic all-conference squad.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-10 academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.00 overall GPA and be either a starter or significant contributor.
