The A.D. Report -- The Rally Starts with You

In the Classroom, On the Field, In the Community... Past entries will also be archived for your convenience. Go Beavers! May 9, 2008 With our new men’s basketball coach on board, it’s exciting to see the momentum that’s building to welcome Coach Robinson to Beaver Nation. Men’s basketball, a storied program that still ranks as the 13th-winningest in the nation, now has officially begun a new chapter. About 800 hundred people have signed up to , the campaign we launched when we started our search to show prospective coaches that Beaver fans will come back to support the program and want to have a consistent winner. The vast majority of these folks represent potential new season ticket holders an impressive number that could boost our fan base and get Gill rockin’ again. In fact, we’ve already received deposits from many of these folks. We need to take this momentum a step further, to build on this early success for Coach Robinson, the staff he’s assembling, and the new and returning players. Specifically, this means that I need people who signed up to Rally the Legend to actually become season ticket holders by putting down a deposit. This also means that I’d like to grow our ticket base with many more Portland-area fans. It will take everyone in Beaver Nation pulling together to get men’s basketball back on track. Metro-area fans will have their first opportunity to meet Coach Robinson and hear his thoughts on the program’s future. Our new men’s basketball coach will speak at a starting at noon on Tuesday, May 13, at the Rose Garden in Portland. There is still space available to here personally from Coach Robinson about his vision for OSU basketball. Click for RSVP information. Throughout the search process, I spoke with many prospective coaches. We were fortunate to find a rising star a coach with amazing character, a proven winner who is poised for big things. Coach Robinson impressed me on many levels. But one thing that stood out is his willingness in fact, his eagerness to take on the challenge of rebuilding Beaver basketball. As a player for We need to get that hair-raising, goosebump-inspiring feeling back, to fill our legendary arena and make playing in Gill Coliseum a true home-court advantage once again. There’s no doubt our players and coaches will feed off of that emotion. Basketball success, much like the players and performances that have made Gill Coliseum an historic venue, is in our DNA. Many of our Beaver Nation fans grew up with sold-out games in Gill and nationally ranked basketball teams. Here’s how you can help turn this vision into a reality. Our ticket office is now taking a $50 per seat deposit for new men's basketball season tickets for the 2008-09 season. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, the ticket office can be reached at 800-462-3287 (800 GO BEAVS). Cash, check or credit cards payments are accepted in person. All major credit cards, except American Express, are accepted via phone orders. By making a deposit, new season ticket holders will have priority seating after current season ticket holders and BASF donors. It's important to remember that a BASF donation for football also counts toward basketball priority So if you haven’t already jumped on board to Rally the Legend, do it right now. Simply click and let your name continue to build momentum for men’s basketball. Encourage anyone who’s excited about the passion of Coach Robinson and the future of Beaver basketball to sign-up as well.
