Men's Golf Receives Generous Donation

CORVALLIS, Ore. Through a generous donation from Don and Grace Archer, in memory of their son Dennis Lee Archer, the Oregon State men’s golf team will begin construction this summer on a facility that will include a 6,000 square feet putting green and chipping area located behind Goss Stadium.
The Beavers received the donation from the Archers in honor of their son who graduated from Oregon State in 1969. The generous gift was made on his behalf because of his enjoyment for the game of golf as well as his appreciation for everything the game of golf stands for.
“One of the things we struggle with day in and day out is trying to find ways to improve our facilities,” men’s golf head coach Brian Watts said. “With this very generous donation, our student-athletes will now have the opportunity to have an easily accessible putting surface to practice on every day. For the Archers to step up to the plate and help out the golf programs speaks volumes about their dedication to Oregon State. It’s a very important gift for the Oregon State golf programs.”
Upon completion, the project, scheduled to begin this summer, will be utilized by the Oregon State golf programs, Oregon State recreation classes and the Kid Spirit program.
“It’s a generous gift not only for our programs; but, for others who enjoy the game of golf as well,” Watts said. “For our program, it was a very special donation and it’s going to be a great facility for us to utilize through the years.”
