WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Oregon State senior outfielder Braden Wells has been named to the Pacific-10 Conference’s All-Academic Second Team, league commissioner Tom Hansen announced Friday. Additionally, Ryan Ortiz, Jason Ogata and John Wallace have been named honorable mention.
Wells, a speech communications major, concluded his collegiate career in Oregon State’s 2-0 win over Pacific Sunday. A native of Glendale, Ariz., he finished with a fielding percentage of .989 while playing all three outfield positions.
For Ortiz and Wallace, it is their second Pac-10 honors in as many days. On Thursday, Ortiz was named All-Pac-10 and earned All-Academic honorable mention honors on Friday. A business major, he hit a team-leading .351 with five home runs and 55 runs batted in this season. He, along with freshman Kevin Rhoderick, was invited to the USA Baseball National Team Trials earlier this week.

A business major as well, Ogata hit .301 with 14 doubles, four home runs and 39 RBI in 2008. He led Oregon State with 18 multiple-hit games.
