The honor for Towne, who rowed in seven-seat for OSU’s women’s Varsity 8+, comes on the heels of her selection to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association All-West Region team on Monday.
Towne rowed in the seven-seat for OSU’s Varsity 8+ in 2007, helping her boat to a fifth place finish at the Pac-10 Championships earlier this month. Despite OSU’s V8+ finishing its season ranked 16th in the nation, the Beavers were disappointed when they did not receive one of 16 invitations to the NCAA Championships. Towne also helped power the V8+ to victory over then-No. 16
Schanno, who rowed in the four-seat for OSU’s men’s Varsity 8+, helped propel his boat to a fourth place finish at the Pac-10 Championships and the Beavers’ 13th straight appearance at the Intercollegiate National Rowing Championships in Camden, N.J. later this month. OSU’s V8+ is currently ranked 17th in the nation.
