When Hicks (100 Mile House, B.C./ Shawnigan Lake HS) arrives at the camp she will be tested on a 2k erg test and then will have extensive seat racing in small boats (pairs and fours) that will determine which athletes make the boat. The camp has already begun due to Canadian universities finishing their academic year already. Hicks will join the camp at the end of the term.
“The team already sees Ame as an athlete with great ability,” said Ford. “She is an example to everybody on the team as to what options are available in the sport beyond college rowing. It’s a good experience for everyone.”
OSU freshmen rower Diane Lindsley will also be attending a camp this off-season. Lindsley has been selected to participate in the USRowing National Team Freshman Camp.
The camp has been developed for athletes with no more than two years of rowing experience. The main objectives of the camp are to expose the novice athletes to the National Team and its training, rowing in all boat categories (1x to 8+), learn some technical and physiological basics, and to train with athletes of similar ability.

This camp selected young athletes that have physiological potential and the desire to learn more about the National Team. Lindsley was selected based on her success during the racing season, ergometer scores (demonstrated physiological talent) and coach recommendation.
