CORVALLIS Oregon State junior Kaylie Towne earned second team All-America honors Monday, as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The awards, presented by Pocock, a builder of racing shells, recognize the outstanding accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains for the spring season.
Towne (Myrtle Point, Ore /Myrtle Point HS) becomes just the fifth different Oregon State rower and sixth overall All-America selection in OSU women’s rowing history.
Recently Towne was selected to the CRCA West Region first team and was among six OSU rowers to be named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete. She was also chosen by OSU as an “Everyday Champion” earlier in the season recognizing her achievements on and off the water as a student-athlete.
Towne rowed in the 6-seat in 2007 for the Varsity 8+ which finished the season ranked No. 16.
