Men's Golf Stands in 13th at NCAA West Regional
Bremerton, Wash. – After two rounds at the NCAA Division I West Regional at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., the Oregon State men’s golf team is tied for 13th and is three strokes out of the top ten and a qualification to the NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship.
Diego Velasquez and James Allenby lead the Beavers and are both at 4-over par, 146 through two rounds.
Velasquez started off strong, shooting a 1-under through nine and finished 2-over for the day with a 74, matching his 74 from round one.
Allenby was also 1-under after nine holes and finished 1-over for the day shooting a 73, two strokes better than the 75 he shot during the first round.
Paul Peterson is 9-over for the Beavers through two rounds and shot a 2-over 75. He improved on his score from round one by three strokes and was 1-under after nine holes in round two.
Alex Williams and Vincent Johnson are both 10-over for the tournament at 154.
Johnson showed the most improvement for the Beavers shooting a 73 in round two after an 81 in round one.
The Beavers are paired with Texas and Texas Tech for the third round. They tee off from the first tee at 8:35 a.m. on the Olympic course.
Oregon State needs to break through into the top-10 to advance to nationals.
