Head coach Kelly Sullivan’s teams have posted a cumulative GPA of 3.33 through winter term of this academic year, and since the re-introduction of the programs in the fall of 2005 have achieved a 3.21 term GPA or higher. Six current student-athletes hold 4.00 cumulative GPAs.
“I’m very fortunate to be associated with such a special group of student-athletes,” Sullivan said. “They are as committed to the classroom as they are to competition on the track. I’m very proud of their accomplishments.”
For the third consecutive year, the Beavers led the Pac-10 Conference for members on the league’s fall academic cross country team with 12. Sophomores, (North Bend, Ore.), (LaGrande, Ore.) and (Enterprise, Ore.) led the way with first team honors. OSU has had 69 Pac-10 All-Academic members since 2005.
The awards are part of the NCAA's incentives-disincentives program that rewards those athletic teams that perform well academically and penalizes those teams that do not -- OSU will not incur penalties in any of its 17 intercollegiate programs when the Academic Progress Rate (APR) is released later this month.

The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a picture of the academic culture in each sport. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 965 to a perfect 1,000.
