No. 14 Oregon State Prepares for Pac-10 Championships

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men’s crew prepares to take on the Pac-10 on the waters of Lake Natoma at Rancho Cordova, Calif. on Sunday May 18. The Beavers will be attempting to improve on last year’s fourth place finish against some of the toughest competition in the country.
Oregon State’s Varsity 8+ crew comes into the Pac-10 Championships having prior racing experience against No. 1 Washington and No. 7 Stanford. The Beavers will also face competition from No. 8 California, as well as crews from UCLA, USC, and Washington State. The V8+ crews are scheduled to begin racing at 2:50 p.m.
The Beavers Junior Varsity 8+ crew will take on three other Pac-10 foes, including prior opponents Washington and Cal. The JV8+ crew from UCLA rounds out the field for a race that is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
The first men’s race of the day features the Freshman 8+ crews. The Beavers will see crews from Washington, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, and Washington State. All six boats will begin their race at 1:50 p.m.
“I know that the team is excited to get into the championship phase of the season,” head coach Steve Todd said. “The challenge for us over the last month has been to make those little refinements in the stroke and rhythm of the boat and see how those things change the overall speed of the team.”
Live streaming of the races will be available on the Pac-10 website at www.pac-10.org. From the home page, click on the live stream graphic on the right side of the page. Viewers must sign into the free All-Access; new users will be asked to create a login.
