Young Wins 10k To Finish Strong Weekend - Oregon State University Athletics

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Junior (Klamath Falls, Ore.) won the 10,000-meters and senior (Grand Junction, Colo.) came in second to lead the Oregon State women’s track team on a very productive night at the John Knight Invitational.

“Lorene Young has reached a new level of running I don’t think anyone would have ever guessed,” head coach said. “This race tonight further proves how far she has come and the work she has put in.”

Had Young not been running unattached she would have run the school’s third fastest 10,000-meters at 35:54.05. Tonight’s time was a personal best that topped her previous by more than two and a half minutes.

Crawford’s time was good enough for fourth all-time at OSU (36:48.34). Last night Crawford ran a personal best in the 5,000-meters at the Oregon Twilight. Also, following closely behind Crawford was freshman (Forest Ranch, Calif.) taking third place and finishing fifth all-time at OSU with the time of 36:49.66. Junior (Hillsboro, Ore.) finished the day 8th all-time at OSU after posting a time of 37:42.87, fifth overall.

In the 5,000-meters senior (Hillsboro, Ore.) was the only Beaver participant and took a second place finish with a time of18:31.36

Freshman (Beaverton, Ore.) was the lone Oregon State participant in the 1,500-meters garnering a 7th place finish and a time of 4:56.33.

Leading the Beavers in the 800-meters was sophomore (Grants Pass, Ore.) with a time of 2:15.83, her personal best in an Oregon State uniform.

“We accomplished everything we had hoped for,” Sullivan said. “We have put together, by far, our best track season to this point. We’ve had a lot of PR’s, top 10s and a number of break throughs for our athletes.”
