Peterson Runs 5th Best 1,500m In OSU History - Oregon State University Athletics

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Jean-Marie Peterson (Canby, Ore.) ran the 5th fastest 1,500-meters time in Oregon State history to lead the track team Friday at the Oregon Twilight at Hayward Field.

“It was big race for Jean-Marie tonight. She had a huge PR tonight,” head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “It was great to see her race well.”

Peterson ran the 1,500-meters in 4:30.43 fast enough for 11th overall. Her time was eight seconds faster than her previous season best. Also making a strong showing in the race was freshman Casey Masterson (Eugene, Ore.) with a 14th place finish. Had she not been running unattached she would have run the 7th fastest time in school history with a time of 4:32.74.

“Casey ran really well in the 1,500-meters too. She has made some solid showings this season and today’s three second PR was great,” Sullivan said.

Leading the way for the Beavers in the 5,000-meters was senior Nicole Crawford running a season and personal best time of 17:25.87, good for 8th place overall.

“Nicole has been working really hard this season, so for her to get a PR here today and nearly get into the all-time top 10 list is fantastic,” Sullivan said.

Oregon State track is back in action tomorrow night for another twilight meet beginning at 6:10 in Monmouth, Ore. for the John Knight Invitational.

“Overall we had a pretty good meet today,” Sullivan said. “In both the 1,500-meters and 5,000-meters we had women make some good showings and set some PR’s.”
