Softball Upsets No. 3 UCLA, 5-3

Corvallis, Ore. Junior ’s (Tustin, Calif.) 3-for-4 performance with a pair of RBI lifted Oregon State to a 5-3 win over No. 3 UCLA Friday afternoon at the OSU Softball Complex.
Oregon State (28-30, 6-14 Pac-10) out-hit the Bruins 11-10 with seven Beavers earning hits, handing them their seventh loss of the season, fourth Pac-10, with their record now sitting at 44-7, 16-4 Pac-10.

The Bruins scored the tying run in the top of the fifth with Megan Langenfeld picking up the two-out RBI double to left center, but the Beavers quickly answered back in the bottom of the inning led by P. Lowe’s two-RBI single to left field with the bases loaded. Chisholm tallied an RBI on a sacrifice fly to right field to score freshman (Tustin, Calif.), who reached on a one-out single with the Beavers back on top 5-2 after five complete.
Oregon State threatened again in the bottom of the sixth led by Guzy’s two-out double to right center before junior (Camarillo, Calif.) walked and sophomore (Chula Vista, Calif.) advanced both runners on her single. But all three were left as the inning closed with the Oregon State still leading 5-2.
UCLA put another run on the board in the top of the seventh after Amanda Kamekona hit a single to right field to reach and scored on DiSalvatore’s single up the middle. The Bruins continued their rally behind another single by Samantha Camuso, but a fly ball to right field ended the game.
