Oregon State visits Spokane to open up a two-game series with Gonzaga on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT.

Last Game
Jorge Reyes limited Arizona to six hits and two runs over eight innings as the Beavers defeated the 23rd-ranked Wildcats, 3-2, on Sunday in the series finale. The win gave OSU a 2-1 series victory. Lonnie Lechelt and Daniel Robertson each had two hits for the Beavers. Kevin Rhoderick closed out his ninth game of the season.
Respite
The games against Gonzaga mark the first for OSU against a non-top-25 team since March 30. After Sunday’s win, the Beavers had gone 12 straight against top-25 clubs, going 6-6.
Closing Is An Art
With his ninth save Sunday, Kevin Rhoderick has already tied for fourth on OSU’s single-season saves list with Jared Sanders (2002). Rhoderick needs three more to tie for third with Eddie Kunz, who had 12 in 2007. Rhoderick’s nine carer saves also moves him into a tie for fifth all-time.
Starters, Plain Starters
Of the 27 total innings thrown against Arizona in the three-game series, 23 2/3 came from the team’s starters. Each of the three worked into the eighth and totaled 23 strikeouts and 14 hits against.
Notes Of Importance
Oregon State gets back into non-conference with the games against Gonzaga. OSU’s last non-conference game was March 31 in a 5-4, 13-inning win over Portland.
OSU is 12-7 in non-conference in 2008.
The Beavers are 16-0 this season when holding a lead after eight innings.
OSU is also 6-0 in one-run games this season and 4-3 in games decided by two runs.
Chris Hopkins carries a six-game hit streak into Tuesday’s game, where he is 9-for-23 (.391) with four runs and two RBI.
Lonnie Lechelt hit his third triple of the season Sunday. Coming into the 2008 campaign, Lechelt had hit just one triple in 89 games.
Oregon State has played at least one game against Gonzaga every year dating back to 2001.
