WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Oregon State swimmers Felicia Castaneda and Brittney Iverson have been named to the Pacific-10 Conference’s All-Academic First-Team, league commissioner Tom Hansen announced Wednesday. Additionally, sophomore Anna Crandall and junior Kayla Rawlings have been named to the honorable mention team.
Castaneda, a senior, majors in nutrition science and was a captain on the 2007-08 team. In Oregon State’s only home meet of the year, against Washington, she took the 200 breaststroke after being in third coming into the final stretch. She won the event with a time of 2:18.41, beating the second-place finisher by three-tenths of a second. A native of Gresham, Ore., she lettered for OSU for four years.
Iverson, a sophomore, hails from Corvallis and is a graduate of Crescent Valley High School. A biology major, the 2007-08 season was her second with Oregon State. She broke four personal records during the 2008 Pacific-10 Conference meet, and she set a program record after finishing fourth in the 1650 freestyle.
Crandall was a sophomore in 2007-08 and a native of Salt Lake City. Undecided on a major, highlights for her this season include moving to fifth on the program’s all-time list in the 100 freestyle. She also moved to second all-time in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 200 butterfly.
Rawlings, meanwhile, recently finished her junior year and the native of South Surrey, B.C., Canada, served as a team captain this season along with Castaneda. An exercise and sports science major, she secured eight dual meet victories in 2007-08, and was a part of the fastest following relay teams: 400 freestyle, 400 medley, 800 freestyle and the 200 freestyle.
