Vote for Women's Rowing

The Oregon State University women’s rowing team is candidate for the row2K crew of the week (vote here) after upsetting No. 8 Washington at Montlake Cut in Seattle last week. The Beavers are one of six crews in the mix for the national award.
The race marked the first time the Beavers have beaten perennial national power Washington in a dual meet in 20 years, edging the Huskies by 1.7 seconds. OSU also defeated Washington in the Pac-10 Championships last spring.
"I'm very proud of the effort of this crew,” second-year head coach Emily Ford said. “We've worked hard this year and I think things are starting to click. We're taking things one day at a time, and last Saturday was a good day for us."
The women V-8+ roster includes Meghan Mandall (Anchorage, AK), Katie Humm(Lake Oswego, OR), Becca Franceschi (Portland, OR), Britnie Jones (Camarillo, CA), Jenny Kossowsky (Leipzig, Germany), Ame Hicks (100 Mile House, B.C.), Nikki Mullens (Tigard, OR), Kaylie Towne (Myrtle Point, OR) and coxswain Claire Hanway (Beaverton, OR). Franceschi and Towne are former everyday champions.
The V-8+ figures to break into the top-20 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll this week (announced April 23) after being at the top of the “also receiving votes” category last week.
Oregon State’s next row is the regular season finale May 3 at Washington State. The Pac-10 Championships are May 18 in Rancho Cordova, Calif.
