Oregon State Men's Golf In Eighth Place At U.S. Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. After day one, the Oregon State men’s golf team finds itself in eighth place at the U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford University.
Diego Velasquez takes the Beavers into the final round leading the team at 4-over par and is currently tied for 14th place.
Velasquez started the day well finishing 1-under at the end of the first round with four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 first hole. He also had four bogeys in round one. He only managed to record one sub-par hole in the second round while bogeying six times and finished the day 4-over at 144.
Senior James Allenby is two strokes behind Velasquez at 6-over and is tied for 24th. Allenby scattered only four birdies over the two rounds. His best hole of the course was the par-5 16th which he birdied in both rounds. Allenby shot a 146 on the day.
Alex Williams is one shot behind Allenby at 7-over after shooting a two round 147. Williams had three birdies in the two rounds, two of which came on the par-4 11th.
Tyler Simpson and Paul Peterson round out the Beavers and finished with scores of 151 and 153 respectively.
Oregon State is in eighth place two shots in front of in state rival Oregon.
The University of Southern California is atop the leaderboard recording the only sub-par day as a team. The Trojans are 6-under and 18 strokes in front of the second place team Stanford.
The Trojans’ Rory Hie is in first place with an individual score of 7-under.
The U.S. Intercollegiate concludes Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
