Men's Hoops Cruises Past Concordia
CORVALLIS, Ore. Six players scored in double figures as the Oregon State men’s basketball team held Concordia to under 40-percent from the floor as the Beavers cruised to an 82-57 victory in the final exhibition contest of the season on Saturday night. With the victory, Oregon State finished exhibition play with a 2-0 record.
“What I am really pleased with, and it has been noticeable the last two games, is the distribution of the scoring. We had six guys, almost seven guys, in double-figures. That is a positive,” head coach said. “Anytime you get 21 assists and you’ve got your two guards with 11 assists and five turnovers, that is pretty good.”
Oregon State held Concordia to just 19.2-percent from the field in the first half (5-of-26) as the Beavers opened up a 33-17 lead after the first 20 minutes.
The Beavers would extended the lead to as many as 35 in the second half as Oregon State would never allow Concordia to hold the lead en route to the 25-point win.

The Beavers used their size advantage throughout as Oregon State dominated points in the paint, outscoring Concordia 38-10.

Sergio Garcia led Concordia with 20 points while going a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc.
Oregon State will open the 2008-09 season as the Beavers travel to Washington, D.C., to face Howard on Friday, Nov. 14, at 4:00 p.m.
