Oregon State - Montana State Quotes
OREGON STATE HEAD COACH CRAIG ROBINSON
On turnovers late in the second half that got Montana State back in it:
“Not only in the second half, but in the first half when we had a nice lead it did the same thing. There’s a reason why we were 0-18 in the league last year. There are times during the game when we play and look like a really good team. When it gets down to crunch time, we haven’t figured that part out yet. It is guys who have played a lot of games and all I can say is that it is nerves.”
On the game:
“I am trying not to be completely negative. I saw some really good things tonight. I saw long stretches of good things. There are two parts to basketball that will kill you and that is offensive rebounds and turnovers. Both of those things have to do with toughness. We have to get tougher. We work on that on a daily basis. What you find is when you have a lead and you’re not tough enough, you tend to get complacent; and that is when the mental mistakes happen.”
OREGON STATE SENIOR RICKY CLAITT
What to do to win:
“We know what we have to do. We need to figure out when our meltdowns occur and who we need to have on the court so we don’t meltdown at the end of the game.”
On the string of turnovers:
“We can’t have that happen and it has for three games in a row. We have been either in the game or up and then we lose the ball to turnovers and it just kills us.”
MONTANA STATE HEAD COACH BRAD HUSE
On the win:
“Oregon State was making everything for awhile, and we were struggling against their trap, but I have to give credit to our team for how hard they competed. They had a lot of heart and a lot of character and they never stopped fighting.”
On his team’s performance:
“Oregon State outplayed us for the majority of the game, but the stretches we had did it for us. We got into their passing lanes a few times and created a lot of turnovers. We did not have our best shooting night, but we had the will to win and they kept fighting.”
