The Oregon State men’s basketball team continues a string of four games in nine days as the Beavers host Yale in the home opener on Monday, November 24, at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard over the Beaver Sports Radio Network and online at osubeavers.com while tickets can be purchased online or by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS.
Oregon State enters the week with a record of 0-2 on the season after dropping a tough, 79-71 decision at Howard on Saturday. Daniel Deane led the way for Oregon State as the sophomore recorded his first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Josh Tarver added 13 points while Roeland Schaftenaar scored 12 as the Beavers hit 12 three-pointers in the loss, one shy of the school record of 13 three-pointers in a game.
Yale enters the weekend with a record of 0-3 on the season after falling to Portland, 88-70, on Friday night. Alex Zampier leads two players in double figures for the Bulldogs with 12.3 points per game while Ross Morin is averaging 11.7 points per game through three contests.
The meeting with the Bulldogs marks the second in the series as Oregon State captured the only previous contest with a 79-69 victory during the 1957-58 season.
SCOUTING THE YALE BULLDOGS
Yale, led by 10th-year head coach Mark Fox, enters the week with a record of 0-3 on the season after opening the year with losses to Stanford, Vermont and Portland. The Bulldogs, a member of the Ivy League, return one starter and nine players from last year’s squad that finished with a record of 13-15 on the season and fourth in the league with a 7-7 mark.
Alex Zampier leads two players in double figures for the Bulldogs with 12.3 points per game while Ross Morin is averaging 11.7 points per game through three contests.
Through two games, Yale is shooting 41.8-percent from the floor while opponents are shooting 52.9-percent from the field against the Bulldogs.

The meeting with the Bulldogs marks the second in the series as Oregon State captured the previous meeting with a 79-69 victory over the Bulldogs during the 1957-58 season.

The meeting between Yale and Oregon State is the second in the series as Oregon State won the only meeting with a 79-69 victory at home during the 1957-58 season.
Daniel Deane picked up his first career double-double in the loss at Nevada as the sophomore poured in 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds to lead the Beavers. Deane has led the team in rebounding the first two games.
Oregon State guard/forward Seth Tarver is the leading returning scorer for the Beavers this year after he reached double figures in 16 games last season, including a career-high 23 in a win over UC Davis. He ranked second on the teamlast year with 9.6 points per game. For his career, Seth Tarver has scored in double figures in 17 contests after leading the team with 10 points against Howard.
A high percentage of the production from last season returns for the 2008-09 campaign as Oregon State lost only two players (Marcel Jones and Sean Carter) who played in more than 10 contests a year ago. The Beavers return 74-percent of the scoring (1381-of-1858 total points), 61-percent of the rebounds (757-of-1070 total rebounds) and 86-percent of the assists (283-of-327) from a year ago.
In 31 games last season, underclassmen led the Beavers in scoring in 22 times. This season, underclassmen have led the Beavers in scoring for the first two contests.
Oregon State hit 12 three-pointers in the loss to Nevada, one shy of the school record.
Calvin Haynes, one of five players who played in every game last season, is ineligible and could return to the line-up as early as Dec. 13 against Nebraska.
CRAIG ROBINSON FAMILIAR WITH YALE
First-year head coach Craig Robinson is familiar with Yale as the former Brown coach faced the Bulldogs four times during his career with the Bears. Robinson is 2-2 all-time against the Bulldogs as the teams split in each of his two seasons at Brown.
Last year, Robinson and Brown fell in overtime, 66-63, at Yale before claiming a 77-68 victory over the Bulldogs in the final meeting of the season.
DANIEL DEANE OFF TO FAST START
Sophomore Daniel Deane, a transfer from Utah who sat out a year ago, is off to a fast start for the Beavers as the forward/center is nearly averaging a double-double with 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
The sophomore picked up his first career double-double in the game against Nevada as Deane led the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
OREGON STATE IN HOME OPENERS
In home openers since 1939-40 (as far back as home/away records are complete), Oregon State is 57-13 (.809) and has won six straight.
