Men's Basketball Hosts Saint Martin's

CORVALLIS, Ore. The Oregon State men’s basketball team opens the 2008-09 season as the Beavers host Saint Martin’s in an exhibition contest on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 5:30 p.m. The contest is part of a women’s-men’s doubleheader as the women take on Lewis & Clark at 3:00 p.m.
The game marks the start of the Craig Robinson era as the former Brown coach becomes the 20th coach in Oregon State history. In two years at Brown, Robinson led the Bears to a school record 19 victories in 2007-08 and a berth in the inaugural College Basketball Invitational.
Oregon State returns four starters and 10 players from last year’s squad, including Seth Tarver, who ranked second on the team with 9.6 points per game.
Saint Martin’s, a NCAA Division II school and a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, finished 13-14 last season as the Saints return four starters and eight letter-winners from a year ago.
Jake Linton leads the Saint Martin’s attack as the senior guard averaged 19.0 points per game and led the nation in free throw percentage at 96.4 percent a year ago.

Tickets to the men’s basketball game will be good for a general admission seat to the women’s basketball game against Lewis & Clark. Those who have women’s basketball game tickets will also be allowed into the men’s game and are asked to sit in general admission seats.
