Raising Reser Phase II is Underway -- Gill Annex to Break Ground in March

The dismantling is almost complete; the building will start in early January (2007) on “Raising Reser Phase II.” The $33 million project, funded by individual donors and contributions by Beaver Sports Properties (Learfield Sports), will expand the home of Beaver Nation to approximately 46,000 seats. The project also includes the building of the first phase of the Gill Annex.
Phase II involves wrapping the south end zone, connecting the lower bowl of recently completed Phase I to the west side. In addition, a state-of-the-art LED video/scoreboard will be installed. The new video/scoreboard structure in the south end of the stadium will be approximately 30x120 feet (80’ foot video screen) and be the largest in the Pacific-10 Conference. By the time the 2007 season opens Reser Stadium will have expanded by nearly 11,000 seats over a two-year span. The new facility has already been lauded for its unique design and characteristics, and the new addition will continue the reshaping of Reser Stadium and the south side of the OSU campus.

The following is a guideline for the construction of Raising Reser Phase II:
Jan. 10, 2007 Concrete footings installed
Mar. 15 Structural steel erected
Mar. 22 Erect precast concourse tunnels
April 19 Erect precast treads (seat bases)
April 26 Erect steel structure for video board
May 3 Construct ticket buildings, concessions and restrooms
May 17 Install video board
May 24 Install seating (aluminum)
June 1 Landscape installation
July 19 Install interior finishes and equipment
Aug. 31, 2007 Substantial completion
In addition, groundbreaking for the Gill Coliseum Annex project is scheduled for March, with a completion date of early 2008. The Annex will be located between Gill Coliseum and the Tommy Prothro Football Complex.

Future plans for the Annex include building an attached 1,800-seat arena for special events, volleyball matches and wrestling meets, and adding additional locker rooms.
