2007: Brandon is the returning starter at slotback and gauging from the end of last season should continue in that role...a physical player who developed into one of the favorite targets of the quarterbacks...he and Taylor Kavanaugh were the recipients of the team’s “Lunchbucket Award” at the team banquet in March. 2006: Brandon emerged as one of the top receivers in the program during his junior year...excellent athlete with good hands...Pac-10 Honorable Mention Academic team for the second consecutive year...third on the team for receptions (39) and yards (433)...recovered USC’s onside kick attempt at the end of OSU’s 33-31 win...career-high seven receptions vs. California and had six vs. Stanford...made his longest reception of his OSU career with a 27-yard fourth quarter grab in the Sun Bowl on a scoring drive that brought OSU to within seven points...scored his lone touchdown of the season on a 15-yard second quarter pass from Matt Moore at Stanford...started all 14 games. 2005: Brandon suffered an ankle injury in August that kept him out of action for a considerable period...played in five games and made his first career reception against Arizona State...scored a touchdown vs. the Sun Devils on a 6-yard reception from backup quarterback Ryan Gunderson...Pac-10 Honorable Mention Academic Team. 2004: Brandon played in seven games, but did not make a reception. 2003: Redshirt.
FRANKLIN: Brandon lettered four years in football, basketball and track...played football for head coach Armando Gonzalez...played receiver and linebacker and was named the Northern League Offensive Player of the Year his senior year after making 70 receptions for 1,350 yards and 20 touchdowns...two-time all-league on offense and defense...Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Daily all-area team member...first team all-city as a junior and senior at wide receiver...as a junior he caught 58 passes for 850 yards and 11 touchdowns...as a senior he made 11 receptions for 222 yards and four touchdowns vs. Marshall and seven receptions for 220 yards and three touchdowns vs. Lincoln...on defense he accumulated 129 tackles, 16 sacks and three interceptions over his final two seasons...Franklin was 17-5 during his two prep seasons.
PERSONAL: Born in Glendale, California...son of Michael Powers and Ellen Kennedy...has four sisters: Kelly, Deborah, Shannon and Bridget...entered OSU with a 3.3 cumulative GPA and was enrolled in Franklin High School’s magnet program for top-level math students...selected OSU because “it was close to my original home state, the Pac-10 and I like the environment at OSU”...business administration major and is on track to graduate in December...he will enroll in the College of Business Masters program.
