That’s when Mike Cavanaugh and Michele Langsdorf got the good news from one of the surgeons who had labored to remove Laurie Cavanaugh’s two diseased kidneys and transplant one of Danny Langsdorf’s healthy kidneys inside her.
“He said Danny’s kidney was inside Laurie, and it was working,” says Michele Langsdorf, Danny’s wife and former standout softball pitcher at Linfield. “That was the moment that brought everybody to our knees. We all kind of broke down and realized how big a deal this really is.
“I’m pretty proud of him right now.”
