Volleyball Wraps Up Spring Season - Oregon State University Athletics

The Oregon State volleyball team finished its spring season Saturday afternoon beating Western Oregon and Seattle U. The Beavers also dropped a pair of games for this first, and only, time this spring to Portland State.

Scores of the matches were 30-25, 30-24 and 15-9 against the Wolves; 30-25, 31-33 and 8-15 against the Vikings; and 30-25, 30-14 and 25-23 against the Redhawks.

As has been the case throughout the spring, the OSU coaching staff liberally used each of its 10 healthy athletes in a variety of roles and situations in an effort to find to the best ways to use each individual’s talents to maximize production in a game situation. Despite the tinkering and numerous lineups for the Beavers, OSU won 20 out of 22 games played. Oregon State won its first 17 games of the spring despite playing without the 2006 starting setter, , who remains out while rehabilitating from a knee injury suffered at midseason.

“Bree (Knitter) and Lexie (Rathgeber) showed a lot of improvement throughout the spring,” said head coach . “(Kristin) Murray also had a good spring playing all the way around for and she’ll probably be our team captain in the fall.”

With Saturday’s competition, Oregon State’s spring practice season is over. The next event for the OSU volleyball program comes this weekend, May 11-13, when it hosts the Willamette Volleyball Classic. For information on the WVC .
